If you are an affiliate marketer looking for ways to increase market share online, you need to open a notepad and start developing your plan while reading this article.

About two months ago I was having dinner with a client and discussing new ways to generate more leads.  While we were discussing different marketing techniques the subject of blogging came up.  As we talked about blogs we both discovered that we had saved some of the same blogs to our favorites.  We also discussed how there a lot of blogs out there that do a great job of keeping you on the site.

We both obviously fit into a niche demographics; being Search Engine Marketers.  Obviously the blogs we were discussing were going to be very similar but that was when I had an “aha” moment.

Everyone knows that blogs should be natural and the really good blogs are ones ran by people that feel passionate about what they are contributing.  But who says you can’t treat a blog the same way you would treat a new website that markets a product or service?

As our discussion went on, we began strategizing ways to target his demographics by creating blogs that cover topics of high interest on a daily basis.

Here is how the brainstorming session flowed:

Males, Ages 21 – 45
Sports, Cars, Music, Gear, Movies, Girls, Money, Travel, Technology, etc…
“Football & basketball season are coming up”.
“SUV’s are popular, so are sports cars and what about the new hybrids?”
“Rock, Hip Hop, House, Classic Rock, Trip Hop, Reggae, Dance Hall, Blues, etc…”
“We can cover gadget reviews, home entertainment systems and new sporting goods.”

Once you have created a list of blog titles based on your brainstorming session it’s time to decide how you are going to manage all of these blogs.

Who is going to write for you?  This is going to be your biggest challenge.  In order for you to create a successful blog you must find and develop a quality blog team.  This blog team is going to be the deciding factor on how well your blogs do with Traffic, Rankings and Revenue.

I’ve never met anyone that has purchased an item recommended by a blogger that didn’t offer true value or a believable opinion in their blog.  In order for you to develop this type of loyalty between your readers and your blogs you must hire professional writers  that are passionate and well educated about topics chosen.  Even more importantly they must have some “personality” and the ability to keep users wanting more.

Rules of Thumb to Creating a Trusted Blog:

1) State the purpose of your blog.

2) Develop categories for each niche that you plan on covering within your blog.

3) Post something new every day.

4) Mix up your post according to how you feel.  The beauty of blogs are that the good ones truly show how a person is feeling on that particular day.

5) Don’t hold anything back.  If you feel strongly about something, let it rip!

Blog Tips to Increase Traffic & Rankings:

1) You should be linking directly to your primary site from each of your blogs where it makes logical sense to do so.  Pick out your top keyword phrases for the affiliate program most relevant to your blog and be cognizant of how you link to the landing pages of your site.

2) By linking to your primary sites from your blogs you are obviously building quality links.  The key is to link back to your site with varied keyword phrases and to make it as natural as you possibly can.

3) Use different keyword combinations, if you know that “dog collars” sends the most traffic to your site you should be linking from your blog to your site for the following keyword phrases: dog collar reviews, pink dog collars, tough dog collars, pug dog collars, etc…

2) Content Driven Advertising – AdVario.com  – Try this new Tool
3) Google AdSense for Content
4) Amazon Associate Program

By now your notepad should be chalk full of ideas and plans.  Even if you aren’t sold or ready to start a full on “blog assault” you should at lease invest in one.  There is always room for great content.
